September Comics / cómics de setiembre

And now I’m almost done catching up with recent comics. I got the first issue of Batman: Gargoyle of Gotham because I love Rafael Grampá’s art, but his writing is also stellar! The first issue of Captain America was great, I’ll definitely be getting the next ones. Danger Street and Plot Holes continue to be good. The conclusion of Red Room was intense, Piskor always manages to shock his readers. It’s been ages since I last bought a regular DC Universe comic, and this time I decided to give a chance to the first issues of Wonder Woman and Flash. At last, but not least, my favorite comic of the month was Miracleman, Gaiman’s take on repressed trauma and childhood abuse is a real example of magnificent writing. And now, without further ado, here are September comics, as per solicitations:

BATMAN GARGOYLE OF GOTHAM #1
(W/A/CA) Rafael Grampa. EISNER AWARD-WINNING STORYTELLER RAFAEL GRAMPA'S TWISTED VISION OF THE DARK KNIGHT! When you chase your own shadow...it leads you into the abyss. In a Gotham City where every day feels darker and more irredeemable than the last, Batman makes a definitive choice--to kill off the Bruce Wayne identity for good and embrace the cowl full-time. But though he knows the streets of Gotham, Batman will soon come to find that he hardly knows himself. A serial killer is on the loose, and while the murder victims seem random at first, every clue draws Batman closer to the terrifying truth--that they are all connected, not just to each other...but to him... When an all-new rogues gallery of utterly depraved villains begins to emerge from the depths of the city, Batman will have to contend with the very nature of evil--including that which lurks inside in the darkest corners of his own heart--to face what's coming for his city. Batman: Gargoyle of Gotham brings Rafael Grampa's twisted vision of both the Dark Knight and the city of Gotham to life in a DC writing debut that will reach its icy black tendrils into the deepest and darkest corners of human nature and leave you gasping for breath--and for more!

BATMAN GARGOYLE OF GOTHAM #1

MIRACLEMAN SILVER AGE #6
(W) Neil Gaiman (A/CA) Mark Buckingham

PLOT HOLES #2
No. Debería estar listo, ¿verdad? ¡buena suerte, Cliff!

RED ROOM CRYPTO KILLAZ #3

RED ROOM CRYPTO KILLAZ #4

Although I had already read it, I was glad to receive the Martha Washington tpb, a classic Frank Miller / Dave Gibbons story. I’m really enjoying Neil Gaiman’s American Gods and Shaolin Cowboy (Geof Darrow is truly amazing). Cinema Purgatorio continues to be a great anthology. And Batman ’66 Meets the Legion of Super-Heroes was very entertaining. BATMAN ’66/LEGION OF SUPER-HEROES #1

But Batman's hard-boiled nemesis Egghead has stolen one of their unattended time bubbles and taken off to the Legion's own time period. Looks like Batman has to head to the far-flung future with one group of heroes while Robin stays in the swinging sixties with another. Holy time-travel paradox!

Y Batman ’66 Meets the Legion of Super-Heroes fue muy entretenido.
